#1 Exam Time

Students at this time of their year tend to become focused on the successful completion of their exam schedules, reflecting a year of steady work within their school or tertiary institution.

One of the most important issues within the family unit at this time is how to keep the student happy, content and well fed. We have, as parents, often walked about the house thinking that it’s a trail of eggshells, where the slightest creaking board is enough to start an entire revolution! The slightest distraction can often upset a younger person who is desperately trying to implement the procedures regarded as critical to educational success.

This is where adequate nutrition comes into play. Our brains require a steady supply of glucose to function effectively. The glucose though has to be supplied in a slow, steady release so that our brain has that supply available as required.

Proform is such an easy fallback here. Proform is a complete form, and will supply all the nutrients required for concentration, especially glucose. Support your student with the food he or she wants, but make the basis of this nutritional support a Proform shake. Proform white chocolate, with the added brain benefits of some berries (remember it’s got to be the favourite ones!) will give steady levels of the important nutrients, especially carbohydrates, to support good brain function.

The carbs in Proform are low GI. What this means to your student is that the glucose is steadily supplied over a period of time – High GI goods like raw sugar, lead to a rather rapid drop in available glucose a short time after. This in turn, causes a period of poor concentration.

Milk itself actually stirs up your mental energy. Milk delivers the amino acid tyrosine to the brain, which in turn triggers production of dopamine, helping you to think more quickly and accurately. Avoid the attraction of guarana drinks, which have been shown to reduce ability to store information in your memory bank. Sure, guarana revs you up and you can study for longer. The downside is that your study material hasn’t been retained in your brain at all.

To all who are studying hard, the Devondale family wishes you every success. Be organized, stay calm and add Proform to your armory of tools to ensure that success.
